Repeat Prescriptions

Our strong preference for repeat requests is to be done using the NHS App. Alternatively they can be ordered online via the website. Both these are the quickest and most efficient way for you to obtain your medication.

If those methods are unavailable to you then complete the prescription request slip in the surgery, or return the white slip of your prescription to the surgery with the medication required indicated. There is a post box outside the practice and in reception hall for all paper prescription requests to be dropped off so no need for queuing

Your prescription will be ready to collect after 2 working days. Please advise us of your preferred pick-up location.

Please note we do not accept verbal prescription requests.

Prescription Charges and Exceptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount, which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

You can also find out if you are entitled to free prescriptions by visiting

NHS Charges

The charges are:

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 3 month prepayment certificate (PPC): £31.25
  • 12 month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
